Errollyn Wallen is a Belize-born British composer whose work encompasses opera, orchestral music, chamber music, and songs. She founded Ensemble X and Orchestra X, bringing together musicians across stylistic traditions. Her commissions include music for the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games and the Golden and Diamond Jubilees of Queen Elizabeth II. Her opera Dido’s Ghost received its premiere at London’s Barbican in 2021. Wallen also collaborated with Sonia Boyce on Feeling Her Way, the British Pavilion installation awarded the Golden Lion at the 2022 Venice Biennale. Her book Becoming a Composer was published by Faber in 2023. Appointed Master of the King’s Music in 2024, she continues a career spanning concert composition, performance, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
