Amy Goto

Amy Goto was born in 2004 in South Carolina and began the cello at age three. At age twelve, she started studying with Philippe Muller.
She will start working towards her Master's degree in September 2024 at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) with Emmanuelle Bertrand after graduating with honors in one year from the three-year bachelor’s degree program at the CNSMDP in June 2024. Amy has also studied baroque cello and historical performance with Christophe Coin since 2022.

Amy was the recipient of the AENA Special Prize (Second Prize) at the Pablo Casals International Award in 2022. In 2020, she was selected as the youngest member of the Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle de Gautier Capuçon at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. In addition, she was a contestant at the International Paulo Competition in 2023 and was a semifinalist in the Washington International Competition in 2022.

Amy attended the Verbier Festival Academy as a soloist in 2022, where she participated in masterclasses with Frans Helmerson, Miklós Perényi, Alban Gerhardt, Augustin Dumay, Mihaela Martin, and Gabór Takács-Nagy.
She has given performances at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, the Pau Casals International Music Festival of El Vendrell, Schloss Elmau, Music@Menlo, Domaine Forget, Musica Mundi, Festival de Musique de Wissembourg, Festival International de Violoncelle de Beauvais, as well as at TEDx University of Rhode Island. Her performances have been featured on NPR’s From the Top, Radio Classique, and medici.tv.
