Olivia Marckx

Cellist Olivia Marckx was a top prizewinner at the 2022 Coeur d’Alene International Artists Competition. She was featured on NPR’s From the Top, and in Strings Magazine. Olivia has soloed with several orchestras, including the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Symphony, Cascade Symphony, South Coast Symphony, Port Angeles Symphony and Colburn Orchestra, among others. She has performed with the Seattle Chamber Music Society, the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival and the Colburn Chamber Music Society, and collaborated with artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Jon Kimura Parker, Chee Yun Kim, Noah Bendix-Balgley, Time for Three and Demarre McGill. Perviously, Olivia won the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival and the KING FM Young Artist Awards. She was a YoungArts winner and received a Jack Kent Cooke Young Artists Scholarship. She is an alumnus of the Perlman Chamber Music Program, the Heifetz International Music Institute and the Aspen Music Festival. Olivia is also a composer whose works have been commissioned/and or performed by violinists Simone Porter, Blake Pouliot and Aubree Oliverson, as well as the Pacific Symphony, South Coast Symphony, and San Fernando Valley Symphony. Her string quartet is a finalist in the Music for Unity International Composition Competition and will receive a performance this fall by the the Lyris String Quartet in Los Angeles. Olivia is a recent graduate of the Colburn Conservatory of Music (BM and MM) where she studied with Ron Leonard and Clive Greensmith. Currently she is a DMA student at USC’s Thornton School, where she studies cello with Piatigorsky Chair in Violoncello, Ralph Kirshbaum, and composition with Donald Crockett.
