Katya Moeller

Violinist Katya Moeller, 22 was called a “phenomenal instrumentalist” and praised for her “dramatic and convincing performances” and “exquisite interpretations” by Fanfare Magazine and “highly characterized” by SF Classical Voice. She played her first solo recital at the age of six and made her orchestra debut when she was twelve. Since then, she has taken the stage internationally, concertizing in Italy, Hungary, Romania, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Brazil, Southeast Asia, as well as across the United States, in iconic venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, Alice Tully Hall, BargeMusic, and the Joyce Theater. Katya has soloed with numerous orchestras, performing concertos of Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Glazunov, Barber, and Coleridge-Taylor. Most recently, Katya was SEISO’s Artist-in-Residence, where she performed at 22 schools, presented three recitals, and three performances of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto- in just under two weeks. Summer engagements include the Verbier Festival Solo Academy, Perlman Music Program Chamber Workshop, Aspen Music Festival, Yellowbarn Young Artists Program, and the Valley of the Moon Music Festival. Katya was awarded the Prix Rodolphe et Helen Tissières at the Verbier Music Festival Academy. An avid chamber musician, her quartet, DragonBoot, earned Grand Prize at the Coltman Chamber Music Competition and Second Prize at the St. Paul String Quartet Competition. Her violin-piano ensemble, Avita Duo, will be releasing their second album later this year. Dedicated to exploring many musical roles, Katya has also served as Concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra. She is pursuing her Master’s Degree at the Juilliard School with Catherine Cho, after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from Juilliard with Masao Kawasaki. Previously, she studied at the Music Institute of Chicago Academy with Almita Vamos. Katya is a proud recipient of the Kovner Fellowship at the Juilliard School.
