Aaron Wolff’s association with Eighth Blackbird began before he became its cellist. In 2017, he was a fellow at the ensemble’s inaugural Creative Lab. He has since joined the sextet, whose own Naumburg Chamber Music Award dates to 2000.
Wolff received an award in the 2024 Naumburg International Cello Competition. His work outside the concert hall has included string arrangements for Broad City and reporting on New York’s contemporary music scene for I Care If You Listen.
He made his Carnegie Hall recital debut in 2023 as the winner of the Leo B. Ruiz Memorial recital award. His biography on Eighth Blackbird’s website also lists collaborations with the Argus Quartet and composer Anna Heflin.
