Competition Winner

John Bruce Yeh received Second Prize in the 1985 Naumburg Clarinet Competition. He joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1977 as bass clarinetist and became its assistant principal clarinetist and E-flat clarinetist in 1979. His solo appearances with the orchestra include concertos by Carl Nielsen and Elliott Carter. A performer and advocate of contemporary music, Yeh cofounded Chicago Pro Musica, the ensemble recognized with the 1985 Grammy Award for Best New Classical Artist. He also teaches at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts and Midwest Young Artists.
