Baritone Gene Boucher received second prize in Naumburg’s 1964 Vocal Competition. He made his Metropolitan Opera House debut on September 28, 1965, as the Master of Ceremonies in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades. The Metropolitan Opera archives document his appearances in operas including Madama Butterfly, Manon Lescaut, Pelléas et Mélisande, and Otello.
