Competition Winner

Edith Kraft, a native of New York, began her musical studies at age three and made her first solo appearance with the Hartt Symphony and the Queens Symphony when she was eight. Since then she has appeared as soloist with major orchestras across the United States, including the Houston Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony, and the New York Orchestral Society. Ms. Kraft has toured the South as soloist with Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony, and has given many recitals in Europe and this country, especially in the Mid-West. Recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Gardner Museum in Boston, the Speed Museum in Louisville, Kentucky, and the National Gallery of Art and Phillipps Collection in Washington, D.C., were attended by standing-room only crowds. Ms. Kraft has appeared as guest artist with the Juilliard String Quartet and the New York Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet.
