Competition Winner

Pianist Dickran Atamian made his orchestral debut at age eleven with the Phoenix Symphony and studied with John Perry. He received third prize in the 1974 Naumburg Piano Competition and later won the Foundation’s 50th Anniversary Piano Competition. His Naumburg recital featured Sam Raphling’s solo-piano transcription of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, which he subsequently recorded for RCA Red Seal.
