Catherine Wade-Smith, violinist, was named a winner of the 1925 Walter W. Naumburg Competition.
She was a native of Washington and studied in Chicago. She made her New York debut on March 17, 1926 in Aeolian Hall. Ms. Wade-Smith was also the winner of the national prize for violinists granted by the National Federation of Music Clubs.
She was associated with the ownership of a violin by Antonio Stradivari, known as the 'Ries' violin, which she played during her career.
