Elias David Moncado

The 25-year-old German-Spanish-Malaysian violinist, scholarship holder of the Anne-Sophie-Mutter and the Gautier Capuçon Foundation, is considered “one of the greatest talents of his generation” (Anne-Sophie Mutter). As the youngest winner of the 1st Grand Prix and 10 special prizes at the Int. Karol Lipinski Competition 2019 in Poland, as well as winner of the Int. Valsesia Musica and Int. Vladimir Spivakov Competition 2021, his playing is characterized by a “sound that electrifies, that moves.” (Badische Zeitung). He performed at festivals like Lucerne, Gstaad, Schleswig-Holstein and Rheingau. He was a soloist with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Sofia Philharmonic, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra Japan and Budapest Symphony Orchestra, amongst others. His concert highlights were 2026 at Alte Oper Frankfurt, 2025 at Carnegie Hall New York, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées Paris, with the Korean Chamber Orchestra in Seoul and at Smetana Hall Prague, 2024 at the Tonhalle Zurich, 2023 at the Konzerthaus Vienna (recorded by Medici TV) as well as 2022 at the Hitachi Systems Hall Sendai and Meguro Persimmon Hall Tokyo. His critically acclaimed CDs have been released by Avi-Music in 2022 and with Warner Classics/Erato in 2026. From 2023 to 2026 he studied with Mihaela Martin at the Kronberg Academy. He performs on a G.B. Rogeri, Brescia (around 1700), from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben Hamburg, a G.B. Guadagnini, Turin (around 1771) from a private patron, as well as the 1724 „Ludwig, Ex-Szigeti“ Stradivarius, provided by the L-Bank Baden-Württemberg. Since September 2026, Elias David Moncado is Artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, under the direction of Augustin Dumay.
