Margaret Hamilton, the American pianist, was born on December 9, 1902, in Cleveland, Ohio. She gained recognition as the first-prize winner of the 1926 Walter W. Naumburg Competition. Her performances included concerts in Boston, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, as well as appearances with the New York Philharmonic and New York Symphony.
Ms. Hamilton's second NY concert as a Naumburg winner was played in Town Hall on March 7, 1928. Her program included: Respighi's Italiana, Rameau's Gavotte and Variations, Schumann's Sonata in F-sharp minor, Op. 1, Debussy's Le plus quo Lento and Danse, Medtner's Two Fairy Tales, Rosenthal's Papillons and Delibes-Dohnanyi's Naila Waltz.
