Claude Mann

Claude Mann is a philanthropist whose support of music, education, and scientific research has helped strengthen cultural and academic institutions in the United States and abroad. A director of Alfred E. Mann Charities and a life trustee of the University of Southern California, she serves on the Walter W. Naumburg Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Her commitment to the performing arts includes board service with Los Angeles Opera and Manhattan School of Music. In 2011, she and Alfred Mann made a combined gift of $6 million to establish endowed chairs honoring violinist Robert Mann at Manhattan School of Music and the USC Thornton School of Music. The chairs support teaching in strings and chamber music, extending the educational legacy of the Juilliard String Quartet’s founding first violinist.

Mann has also served on the board of the Alfred Mann Institute at the Technion and led fundraising efforts for the Alfred Mann Foundation. Her philanthropic interests encompass medical innovation, the arts, and animal welfare, connecting institutional support with practical improvements in people’s lives.

Born in Berlin and raised in France, Mann studied arts, philosophy, and psychology at the Sorbonne. USC elected her a life trustee in 2016 in recognition of her philanthropic leadership.
