바리톤 Christopher (Chris Pedro) Trakas는 다양한 레퍼토리에 담아내는 강렬하고 열정적인 성악으로 찬사를 받습니다. Mozart, Schubert, Rossini, Mahler, Debussy부터 Britten, Bernstein, Bolcom, Adams, Ellington까지 폭넓게 활동합니다.

1985년 Naumburg Award(Dawn Upshaw와 공동 1위)와 Young Concert Artists International Competition 수상자입니다. Alice Tully Hall과 92nd Street Y에서 뉴욕 데뷔를 했습니다. 주목할 만한 공연으로 Malta에서 Schubert의 Winterreise 전곡을 처음 연주했습니다. 녹음으로는 Felicity Lott, Ann Murray, Graham Johnson과 함께한 Hyperion의 Complete Songs of Ernest Chausson 등이 있습니다. 이 음반은 The Guardian 에서 “금주의 클래식 CD”로 선정되었습니다.

그 밖에 Jonathan Sheffer의 Eos Orchestra와 Wagner의 Rheingold 에서 ‘Alberich’를, St. Ann’s Warehouse의 인형극 프로덕션 The Barber of Seville에서 Figaro를 연기했습니다. Kennedy Center에서는 ‘Dandini’ 역(La Cenerentola)도 맡았습니다. Europe 활동에는 Switzerland의 Theater Basel에서 “Pelléas”, London에서 Handel의 Giulio Cesare 연주회, Frankfurt에서 Sylvain Cambreling과 Schumann의 Szenen aus Goethe’s Faust 공연 등이 있습니다.

현대 오페라에 깊은 관심을 지녔으며 Stewart Wallace의 두 작품 세계 초연 참여에서 이를 보여 줍니다. Christopher Alden이 연출한 Hopper’s Wife, Sundance Theatre Lab에서 무대 연출가 겸 대본가 Richard Foreman과 작업한 Yiddisher Teddy Bears입니다. San Diego의 Old Globe Theatre에서 Shakespeare의 As You Like It에 ‘Amiens’로 출연하여 Actor’s Equity 카드를 받았습니다.

뛰어난 리사이틀 연주자로 여러 주요 피아니스트와 협업했습니다. James Levine(Ravinia Festival의 Dichterliebe, Histoires Naturelles, Don Quichotte à Dulcinée), Françoise René Duchable(Newport의 Winterreise), 작곡가이자 피아니스트 David Del Tredici의 Three Songs(CRI 녹음) 및 Love Addiction(Koch Classics 녹음 예정) 세계 초연 등이 있습니다. Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos 및 Spoleto Festival Orchestra(Concerto in Piazza)와 Gian Carlo Menotti의 O Llama de Amor Viva 세계 초연에서 노래했습니다. 최근 시즌에는 Toronto의 Arc Ensemble, Peter Flint의 혁신적인 Avian Music, New York의 Fireworks Ensemble과 공연했습니다. Kennedy Center에서는 Angel Gil Ordoñez의 Post-Classical Ensemble과, Brooklyn Bargemusic에서는 Schubert의 Winterreise를 연주했습니다.

North Carolina School of the Arts와 Stony Brook University 교수진으로 활동했으며 The Juilliard School의 객원 강사였습니다. Eckerd College와 University of Houston에서 음악사, 오르간, 성악 분야의 학사(B.A.) 및 음악석사(M.M.) 학위를 받았습니다.
