The competition is open to violinists of every nationality. The competitors may not be under 18 years of age or more than 31 years of age, and may not have had a birthday before 1981.
FIRST PRIZE: Cash Award of $10,000
Two fully subsidized New York Recitals
Orchestral and recital appearances
SECOND PRIZE: Cash Award of $5000
THIRD PRIZE: Cash Award of $2500
A CD recording screening will be held in March 2012 by a preliminary panel of judges. Live preliminary auditions, semi-finals, and finals will be held in June 2012 in New York City. The finals will be open to the public. The judges may withhold any or all awards.

Application forms and a CD of no less than 30 minutes of satisfactory audible quality must be received at the Naumburg Office no later than March 1, 2012.
A performance CD, a listing of repertoire, $100 application fee is required. The Naumburg Foundation is not responsible for VISAS for all violinists who reside abroad.

World premieres of works by Hannah Lash and Dan Visconti, winners of the Walter W. Naumburg Foundation’s Composition Award in 2010. The new works are being written for the Da Capo Chamber Players, winners of the Naumburg Chamber Music Award in 1973, in honor of their 40th Anniversary.
